We understand many of you have questions about how Ridgewood Pool will operate in light of ongoing efforts to control COVID-19. Right now, we are all working under a great deal of uncertainty. Like you, the board is listening closely to CDC and state health officials for guidance as we make decisions for the 2020 season. We will act in accordance with their recommendations. We have increased the frequency of our board meetings with our next one planned for April 5th. Our response to COVID-19 is the top priority every time we meet. We do not yet know how this will affect pool opening or operations since national and state recommendations evolve daily. As we make decisions we will let you know so you can plan accordingly. We appreciate your patience. There are actions we are taking now that are necessary regardless of whether our pool season runs normally or not. Required maintenance including fixing broken lights, servicing electrical equipment, repairing expansion joints, refilling the pool with water (a large expense) and spring cleaning are already underway. These pre-planned preventative and ongoing maintenance items have to be completed to prevent long-term degradation of the facility.  These expenses must be incurred to support continued operations for now and beyond the Summer of 2020.   Additionally, we have continued fixed costs such as debt service, insurance, and utilities. In an effort to stay ahead of this situation, the board is being fiscally conservative and avoiding any expenses that are not absolutely necessary. We continue to be hopeful that we will open and provide relief from both the summer heat and the emotional stress that 2020 has brought to all of us so far.

Thank you for your patience and support,The Ridgewood Pool Board
